From 5 to 4 Regions

  • Merging Region Zealand (Sjælland) and Capital Region (Hovedstaden)
  • Regions keep responsibility for hospital planning and hospital services
  • More local or neighborhood-level duties will be reallocated

New Local Governance: Health Councils (Sundhedsråd)

  • 17 new health councils that bring together political representatives from both regional municipal levels
  • Responsibility for more localized services

Strengthening Primary and Chronic Care

  • Shift to more local care, disease management and digital healthcare

General Practitioner (GP) Reform

  • Goal of 5,000 GPs by 2035
  • Move to New clinic models to ensure greater coverage, greater roll of government in allocating GPs

Redistribution of Tasks

  • Movement of task responsibility between municipalities and regions

Digital Health & Data Infrastructure

  • Consolidation of Online and Digital Health to unify digital health tools, health data and digital services: Digital Health Denmark

Investment in Facilities, Infrastructure, and Technology

  • Funding commitments for modernizing hospitals, nearby-hospital services, healthcare houses and digital systems

Equity, Local Access, and Patient Rights

  • Greater access for underserved areas
  • More options

Immigration & Licencing Changes (Workforce)

  • New Rules for Healthcare Worker Immigration and Qualification
