International Patients in Denmark
Empowering foreign residents to navigate Denmark’s healthcare system with confidence, dignity and support.
Get Help NowOur Mission
International Patients in Denmark (IPID) is a non-profit association that advocates for safe, respectful and high-quality medical care for everyone who calls Denmark home—no matter where they were born or what language they speak. We connect international patients with clear information, skilled advocates and a welcoming community so they can focus on getting well, not figuring out the system.

How We Help
Personal Guidance – Step-by-step explanations of GP registration, specialist referrals, emergency care and reimbursement rules.
Advocacy & Mediation – Trained volunteers who can join appointments, translate medical terms and help file complaints when rights are overlooked.
Education Hub – Plain-English guides, webinars and short courses on Danish healthcare, insurance options and patient rights.
Community Network – Peer groups, local meet-ups and our online forum where members share tips and encouragement.
Policy Voice – Research and position papers that highlight international-patient needs to hospitals, ministries and professional bodies.
Why It Matters
Moving to a new country is demanding; accessing healthcare shouldn’t add extra stress. Language gaps, unfamiliar procedures and cultural differences can delay treatment and lead to errors. By giving internationals the knowledge and backing they need, we improve outcomes for patients and lighten the load on Danish providers.

“IPID helped me understand referral rules and even found an English-speaking specialist. I finally felt heard.”
